 An after-market crib rail for the masses. August 2, 2010

Just finished installing this crib rail a few minutes ago. It's not difficult or anything. Then again it's not exactly idiot-proof. For some reason KidCo hasn't yet discovered that making a product with multiple accidental ways it can go together is not the best in terms of design. I'm one of those people who have to skim the instructions then try to put an item together using a combination of logic and trial and error. Maybe I'm just brain damaged, dyslexic, or have ADD, I don't know, but I'll bet I'm not alone here. So, if piece A can fit into piece F, but it can also fit fine in piece D or L, I'm likely to stick it in the wrong place on the first try and then get frustrated when I have to backtrack to correct the problem I created. This is usually my own fault, but in this case it was exacerbated by the fact that the crucial details on the instruction booklet were just small enough and just ambiguous enough to lead me to just go with what made the most sense. Of course I got it wrong and had to fuss with it for an extra 10 minutes. All I'm saying is this could all be solved if things were made to fit together in only one possible way.
The other issue I have that really keeps me from giving this item 4 stars is that it just doesn't seem all that stable. When the kid is moving around in bed, the rail is not stable like the rest of the bed it's wobbly like the mattress. And in it's resting position it sits slightly angled inwards not straight up and down. Just enough to not look like part of the original bed.
All-in-all though, if it keeps my kid from falling out of the bed in the middle of the night it's doing it's job. Then again so would a two-by-four nailed to the front of the crib.

I like the product and my 2 year old got used to it really fast. However, the assembly and installation instructions are minimal and somewhat confusing. Had to use the pictures in the box to make up for what the instructions didn't explain.

We thought we were doing a good thing when we bought a convertible crib for our son. However, we were surprised to discover that it's really hard to find a bed rail for a crib. This one works great for our situation. I was happy to find it in the white color, as it matches our crib. The directions weren't great, but we figured it out based on the pictures on the cover and some trial and error. We're very happy with this product.

The picture when I purchased looked like unfinished wood, so I purchased this thinking I could stain it to match the bed... It came bright white! But it serves its purpose and hopefully the high price means it'll last for the next baby.

This product is easy to install and use. I like that it can be stained to match the furniture (although I have left mine natural). We placed it in the middle of the mattress as recommended by the manufacturer. The only problem is that the little guy can now crawl out on his own--a whole new host of bed time fun for all!
