| Customer Reviews: Poorly engineered crib August 27, 2010 David Nielson (Lehi, UT United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This crib is VERY poorly engineered. There is not adequate space to tighten some of the screws without damaging your hand and the finish of the crib. The instructions are difficult to follow. The version I purchased needed a safety kit upgrade and the holes did not line up properly. I had to use a saw to cut grooves in the bed so the hardware would finally fit. Several frustrating hours later, I vowed never to purchase from this company again. There are better options out there.

Great Convertible Crib! June 10, 2010 Jared Morgan 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great crib! We are very pleased with our purchase. It is very sturdy, solid crib and looks so classy. The price we got this for was great! I really like the solid head and base boards. The only downside to this is that it would be difficult to attach bumpers. We have never tried since you aren't supposed to use bumpers once you baby can pull themselves up to standing, which is the stage our toddler was when we bought this. Like other reviews that I have read on this product, the Walnut crib is definitely not walnut color. It's a cherry color, but that was what I wanted, so that worked out. And I am glad that there is NO dropside.
In response to a previous review, the instructions stated to make sure the springs on the mattress support had their prong connectors facing down before putting your mattress on it or it would tear the mattress. So, the people who complained about the crib tearing their mattress simply didn't follow the instructions. The crib was relatively easy to assemble, with the only problem being that, when attaching the mattress support it was very hard to get tools into the small space to get the bolts tightened. Nothing 5 minutes of being diligent didn't fix.
Crib conversion seems very simple and left me feeling much more comfortable about buying a convertible crib. I was worried that the side that would be able to be removed would be a little less sturdy than the other sides, but after putting everything together, the side is bolted in tight. And when I need to convert, a few bolts disconnected and the side comes off and makes the bed into a toddler bed.
I purchased the Kolcraft Pediatric 2000 Mattress to go in the crib, and it fits perfectly. The crib directions said the crib takes mattresses no smaller than 51.5 x 27 x 5 inches. Along with that, I also purchased 2 of the the Easy Teether Crib Rail Cover in Ivory to go on the railing. It is about an inch or so smaller than the length of the crib rails, but an inch on the very end on the rail not covered is alright with me. It does the job. And other than that, it fits the rail very nicely.
I would definitely recommend this crib. It's very affordable and meets all of the safety standards.
Graco fixed-side crib March 17, 2010 Danielle M. Voiculescu (MT) This is a decent crib. I think maybe I would give it 3 and a half stars if that were an option. It is fairly sturdy and I like that it has 2 solid sides, which is why I bought it in the first place. I don't know if I like the bottom support very much since when I tried to see if the mattress would fit, it tore a little hole in my mattress. I also don't like how the bottom support attaches to the frame. It was very hard for my husband to get his hands in there to screw it on. And he has average sized hands; not too big. I don't think whoever engineered this thought it through all the way. Of the cheaper cribs out there, this is pretty good. Not the best, but it works.
EDIT:
I upgraded my star rating to 4 stars. Another reviewer explained that the bottom support was upside down and that is why it tore a little hole in my mattress. I guess my hubby didn't read that part of the directions... Oh well.
